Home Health Services
"Myths of Home Health."

If I am being seen by CMHHS, my doctor will not be kept “in the loop” regarding my medical status.

After receiving a referral from your doctor for your homecare, the CMHHS staff will regularly communicate with your doctor.

If I am utilizing CMHHS and I have a question, concern or need for a visit during the middle of the night, I must wait until Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

CMHHS is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has an on-call nurse available to assist you.

When CMHHS begins to take care of me, my family doesn’t have to be involved anymore.

Medicare regulations clearly state that CMHHS staff are to identify and teach a caregiver to be actively involved in meeting your medical needs. For example, this may include learning wound care, therapy exercises, administration of IV medications, etc.

I can have CMHHS provide my home health care needs as often as I want.

Your care must be medically necessary to receive CMHHS care. It must require the skilled care given by a nurse or a therapist. The frequency of your visits will be established with your CMHHS nurse and/or therapist. CMHHS can include other supporting services such as social work, dietitian, and home health aide if necessary.

If my health care provider refers me to home health, I do NOT have a choice about which home health agency I can pick.

You can request to choose the home healthcare agency of your choice from a list of agencies that serve your community.

CMHHS can provide care to me no matter what health insurance I have.

CMHHS takes most common commercial health care insurances, medical assistance, and Medicare. To make sure CMHHS accepts your insurance, please contact us directly.
Note: CMHHS is now able to accept GHP Gold Choice insurance.

CMHHS only provides home health care in the home.

CMHHS offers a wide variety of community health services such as: rehabilitation, advance technology (IVs, feeding tubes, HomMed Telemonitoring system), diabetes educator, pediatrics, maternal-child program (high-risk, ante partum, postpartum, healthy beginnings plus, early maternal discharge, Nurse-Family Partnership), elderly clinics, flu clinics, health fairs, and a speaker’s bureau.

I cannot choose CMHHS because I don’t live in Columbia or Montour Counties.

Besides Columbia and Montour Counties, our service area includes lower Luzerne, Lycoming, and Sullivan Counties and parts of Northeastern Northumberland County as well.

Call us at 1-800-349-4702 or 570-784-1723 to discuss our service area.
