Every camper is accompanied by an adult volunteer throughout the Camp Courage weekend. Volunteers and campers often have shared similar loss experiences and can
offer unique insight and understanding
with one another.

Saturday morning at camp starts off with a
"Silly Buddy Contest". Prizes are awarded for the best costumes.

(L) Camp Victory provides state-of-the-art facilities including this climbing wall, which allows campers to challenge themselves to try and conquer new activities which may seem scary at first. This activity is supervised by certified rock climbing technicians.

(R) Big Buddy, Doug, tests his skill on the rock climbing wall. Certified facilitators provide the safety equipment, instruction, and supervision for all campers who want to try this challenge. Campers learn how great it feels to overcome obstacles.

During the weekend, campers stop to write a message to their loved one on our giant
helium balloon. During our closing exercises, the balloon is released in a symbolic
ceremony in which campers let go of some of the pain they have been holding inside.

View of the Dining Hall at beautiful Camp Victory in Millville (where Camp Courage is held). The facilities are all modern and clean.
Often we hear from campers that they have never had the chance to talk to another child who has experienced the same type of loss they have. Campers say that they value the chance to talk to others who have experienced a loss more than any other planned activity
at Camp Courage.

During our quilting activity, each camper makes a quilt square which uniquely represents their own loss. All quilt squares are then assembled to form a quilt which beautifully represents the common experiences which brought these kids together.

The "Bead Lady" awards a bead to a camper for participating in one of the weekend's activities. Campers continue to add beads to their leather lanyard, and many receive special beads for good manners or showing kindness to others.

Big Buddy, Jennifer, gets carried away with the drum frame her Little Buddy is trying to work on during a therapeutic art activity.

A Little Buddy shares about the items he's putting into his Memory Box. His Big Buddy, Jack, listens patiently.
A certified archery instructor supervises campers who want to take aim at the target.
